Dr. Kuyper received
the B.A. degree from Central College in Pella, Iowa, and the M.A. and
Ph.D. degrees from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. His previous
experience includes teaching at the middle school, high school, and college
levels in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. He has been elected
to membership in Alpha Zeta Mu, the academic honorary society at Central College, and to Pi Kappa
Lambda, the national music honor society. He teaches and performs regularly
on recorder and other historical instruments, and is a member of the trumpet
section of the Savannah River Winds, a semi-professional wind ensemble.
Dr. Kuyper is
the Director of the Augusta State University Conservatory Program, a part of
the ASU Continuing Education program administered through the Fine Arts
Department.

Dr. Banister holds a
Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Missouri in Columbia and earned a Doctor
of Music degree in voice performance from The Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. Her treatise topic
is "The Solo Vocal Music of Elie Siegmeister: An Annotated
Bibliography."
Dr. Banister
is a frequent solo recitalist and guest artist, with performances throughout
the central and southeastern United States, central Italy, and in Hong Kong. She has been a
soloist/presenter at the International Jazz and the Germans Conference (1995)
held at the University of Missouri, a soloist in a program of Henry Purcell
songs and in a program of music at the court of Queen Victoria for two
Carolinas Symposium on British Studies regional conferences (1995 &
1997), she presented a paper at the national convention of the Music Teachers’
National Conference, (1996), and has been an artist-in-residence at the Instituto
Musicale Orazio Vecchi in Modena, Italy,(1996), and at the Hong Kong
International School (1999). She has performed the roles of the mother in
Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, "Dido" in Purcell’s Dido
and Aeneas, "Katisha" in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Mikado,
and "Princess Marganza" in Sousa’s El Capitan.
Dr.
Banister has conducted choral and vocal workshops and has served as a vocal
adjudicator in the Dakotas, Wyoming, Missouri, Florida, and Georgia. She currently serves
as president of the Georgia chapter of NATS. She
has been named to membership in Pi Kappa Lambda and Kappa Delta Pi.
Dr. Banister, Professor of music, teaches studio voice and opera
workshop at Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia. She joined the ASU
faculty in 1989. A native North Dakotan, she taught studio voice at Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota, for more than a
decade.
